Weather

The weather in Aachen in October is usually quite good. The temperatures range between 10 and 20 Celsius. Even though it tends to be mostly sunny, the weather often changes quite suddenly and there are rain showers to be expected from time to time. Thus, an umbrella is a useful addition to your luggage.

Electricity-outlet-system in Germany

In Germany the commonly used electricity outlet system is the "Schuko" electricity system. This is a system of AC power plugs and sockets most commonly defined as CEE 7/4 and often referred to as Type F. The plugs, which are accepted by this system, are known as the Europlug and are used in every European country, except for Britain, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Ireland and Malta. If you come from a country where the Europlug is not used, you can buy an adapter in your home country before travelling to Germany, at most airports or in any shop in Germany, which sells electrical devices.

Public transportation in Aachen

The city of Aachen offers its visitors the opportunity to buy a so called Welcome-Ticket, which can be used on every bus in the city and is valid for three days. The Welcome-Ticket costs 13 per person. A single bus ride ranges from 1 up to 3 , depending on the distance which is travelled by bus.

Taxis in Germany are off-white/cream-coloured, thus easily recognisable. The cost of a taxi ride depends on the distance. During the day every kilometre costs 1.55 in addition to the fixed starting price of 2.50 . At night every kilometre adds up 1.65 to the starting price of 2.50 .
